They only support the staff they want to see go further with the company. Despite promoting a bullying and harassment-free environment and the setting up of an integrity line once you make a complaint then they wait for a period of time and start all over again and eventually you either quit or if your stubborn enough they find a reason to fire you even if they make it up or set you up.
For the hours expected to work their salaries are low, the work-life balance is alright, there isn't any Job security or advancement unless they like you and want you to progress further, Upper management and some store Manages are not what they make out they are and the Job culture is a bullying and harassment one that is encouraged on the quiet and they are extremely discriminatory.

A day working there would always be able to turn an average day into an awesome one. With an interesting job, sociable and friendly customers and a awesome team behind you, who could honestly complain!
Pros Awesome team and people. Cons amount of hours available for whole team. We want to help you find great companies. Help us be the best! Fantastic place to work. The only fault I can find is the hours which can be very limited outside of holiday periods. Otherwise incredible company to work for, best environment I've been lucky enough to land a job in ever.
Pros Great discounts, supportive management. Cons Limited hours outside of holiday periods. Yes There are 6 helpful reviews 6 No There are 2 unhelpful reviews 2. I enjoyed working here for the short time I did, it opened my eyes in retail. I loved the people I worked with. I would definitely work here again.
The most enjoyable part of the job for me was working with a medium I have a passion for. Pros free merchandise from time to time. Cons I didn't like being extra happy all the time. Over all the work place isn't the worst but far from the best, the progression opertunities although improving if painfully slowly are practically non existent. After working at the company for 6. This is despite having very solid kpi's and working constantly and reliably. Over all the management are very settled in there way and are often lazy doing only the absolute bare minimum and often even less, preferring to leave the work to 2ic's or other lower staff.
This translates up the chain and higher management promote people they personally like or have a vested intrest in. But they are often so low they aren't worth the struggle of getting them to work. The last point I will make addresses the work life balance. The way they make this "legit" is by making you sign off that you worked the recorded hours, however any personal 2ic and above can alter these hours, and to make it worse the management often encorage you to always clock out on time regardless - more Pros Usually good coworkers.
Fredom to work at any branch. Cons Eratic hours for casuals. Bad management and no progression. Was this review helpful? Yes No. Report Share. Great co-workers and a reliable manager, but you are severely underpaid for the amount of work they expect you to accomplish.
Co-workers depend on where you are located, but in my experience they were the best part of the job. That, and if you have a love of games you fit right in. It was an otherwise unremarkable job and they put a lot of expectation on you to meet sales goals and finish a million different tasks in one day. Definitely underpaid when compared to the amount of work you are doing.
Pros Great co-workers, employee discount. Cons Low pay, no benefits, unrealistic sales goals, unreliable hours. Customer service staff are paid peanuts to either: - work incessant, physically hard hours full of emptying stock boxes and processing internal matters while also having to juggle customers and phone calls - or given three hours a week and treated like they are completely disposable.
From what I witnessed, my store managers - who have majority been competent, fair and great at their job - have never been paid or treated appropriately by upper management.
It seems to me from over three years with this company that their store employees are nothing but pawns that can be switched out if they won't bend over backwards and take whatever the higher ups throw at them. The staff discount is okay, nothing to get particularly excited about. I only received one pay rise and it was very small. I also had numerous issues with communication, and upper management making promises they had no intention of fulfilling.
I feel that I worked very hard for this company and received little to no recognition or even praise from anyone other than the managers in store that I worked with who were not being paid much more than me. I would absolutely not recommend working for EB Games. Despite having met some wonderful co workers and friends for life who have similar interests to me, the job itself is physically and mentally taxing, and days off are often filled with - more Pros Staff discount, coworkers with similar interests, work with pop culture and gaming products.
Cons Either very very long and tiring or incredibly short and unsatisfying hours, work follows you home out of the store, upper management are not in touch with store employees, pays poorly, pay rises are unlikely and very small, irregular rostering often at very late notice, unprofessional lack of communication.
An absolutely average student job that keeps you entertained. The management is usually hit or miss but the district manager at the time was awful. They often hired people who had no gaming experience.
