Update twonky on wd mybook live
I think the up and coming update is going to wipe out all their hard work. Erasing the corrupted database files is just such a simple thing. OK, I accepted the solution post. Still, at least I learned something new, and I know what to do in future. Thanks again for your excellent help. My brick is once again a media server. Cool happy to be of assistance. Just a note - and sorry that you have had to go through this. This issue was found and will be resolved in the major update coming out in the next couple weeks.
We apolologize for the inconvience that you have had to go through, and we certainly did not deviously plan this bug! Thanks Tony! It sounds highly intriguing, and the bug fix is a huge bonus. Tony, personally I believe Western Digital is a victim of this issue. This seems to be confirmed with Twonky version 6 which seems to be reported as working a whole heap better than the Twonky on the MyBook live. As an example. That action resets the settings and firmware to the out-of-the-box version.
Just a suggestion. Do you know what the state of play regarding the Public folder on the update? Can the admin set the permissions of this folder to be read only and also being to make the Public folder unavailable or available to the FTP service?
I have a problem with twonky despite some updates to the firmware from WD. I was trying your fix but got lost at the point:. Just sign in with putty to the same ip address as you normally use to access your WD drive in your web browser.
They never say. Hope this helps! Alias: Gordon. Nice try! Is there any way to transfer existing 5. Many thanks! Twonky 6. I get the following error: Could you help me? Ok, I dont know why, but now the errors dont appear any more! Everything works fine! Thank you. Cromwell wrote: Nice try! In fact, we will have a firmware update in the next quarter that will have some exciting features… I would temper your criticism a bit going forward.
Tony Edit - I wanted to add some color to this thread for you all: The misconception in this case is twofold: 1. Any help appreciated. WDTony Thank you for the response. Cromwell wrote: WDTony Thank you for the response. To Gordon. Stream a variety of media file formats, including MP3 and MP4.
Now your media is your own. The My Book Live update provides a powerful new feature that lets you create a backup or snapshot of your device, called a safepoint, on another My Book Live or NAS drive on your home network.
Safepoints can be created on a schedule you define. Creating a safepoint ensures that you can easily recover your data from a specific point in time to a new, compatible device in the unlikely event that your My Book Live fails. If someone needs help to be able to use twonky and iTunes the same way, I gladly offer my support.
Yesterday I wanted to create a new user. This has still worked. But all functions for sharing and assigning rights no longer worked.
Also different admin functions no longer run. Cloud settings and device names can not be changed anymore. After the installation of the original firmware everything works again normal. The exact cause I can not determine. Whether the other v2. So, after a whole day of testing and analyzing, I can report the following: It looks like the base GPL package already has a bug.
If the package is composed strictly according to instructions from WD and nothing of the 3rd party modules are modified, exactly the same happens. After uploading the firmware to the device works a lot no more. It runs the twonky as desired, but many other functions are dead. So you have to take the thing as it is.
I assume that all WD devices with FW 2. On a request to WD, whether one can upgrade twonky, I got the nice information: yes, already, but we do not support it. So a request for a correct GPL package will not bring anything.
