Abstract Preview This document provides guidelines for evaluating the vibration measurements made at the bearings, bearing pedestals or bearing housings and also for evaluating relative shaft vibration measurements made on machine sets in hydraulic power generating and pump-storage plants when the machine is operating within its normal operating range.
Machine sets covered by this document can have the following configurations: a generators driven by hydraulic turbines; b motor-generators driven by pump-turbines; c motor-generators driven by hydraulic turbines and separate pumps; d pumps driven by electric motors.
Status : Published. Publication date : Measurement and evaluation of mechanical vibration and shock as applied to machines, vehicles and structures. The definitions were based on statistical evaluation and the definition of a certain probability limit of the regression curve.
Already Subscribed to this document. The widespread distribution of data and the statistical evaluation can be seen. Hydraulic machines are therefore often used for peak-load supply or for frequency and power control. If the steady-state baseline changes for example after a machine overhaulthe ALARM setting may need to be revised accordingly.
For monitoring purposes A only, in some cases the measurement planes may be reduced to the most important ones, mainly at machine sets with four or more bearings.

Evaluation of machine vibration by measurements on non-rotating parts Machine sets in hydraulic power and pumping plants BS ISO In contrast to thermal turbo-machines, it cannot be concluded that there are instabilities in the oil film of the bearings or self-excitation by seal flow or simiiar causes.
They included the measured shaft vibration amplitudes from different machine types with vertical and horizontal shaft orientation and different speeds. There may, however, be differences for machines of different design and it is not possible to give guidelines for absolute TRIP values. NOTE Apart from ttie shaft vibration, the vibration of the bearing support is frequently monitored as well. May Replaced By: NOTE 1 The numerical values specified are not intended to serve as the only basis for vibration evaluation since, in general, the vibratory condition of a machine is assessed by consideration of both the shaft vibration and the associated structural vibration see ISO and ISO At the bottom of this page you will find a list of the recommended vibration standards for turbomachinery compiled from our extensive experience in vibration and damage analyses.
